Di Lorenzo is co-founder and Chairman of Ocean Visions,  an alliance between premier US research and outreach institutions that aims to transform science and engineering knowledge into real solution actions to address ocean health and sustainable development 2019-present.

Di Lorenzo is co-founder of the OSE program that aims to educate the next generation of transdisciplinary ocean scientists and engineers by combining the basic and applied sciences with innovative ocean technologies, and to advance interdisciplinary research at the frontiers of the physical, biological, chemical and human dimensions of ocean systems. While at Georgia Tech he served as Director from  2016-2022

Over the past 10 years, Di Lorenzo has assumed several leadership roles in various national and international science organizations. Of note is his work in the international North Pacific Marine Science Intergovernmental Organization (PICES), where he has contributed to developing and implementing the science roadmap of the organization and its Social-Ecological-Environmental-Systems approach. The PICES member countries include USA, Canada, China, South Korea, Russia and Japan. 2011-present
